The 500 D is created in 1960 at a cost of 565 thousand pounds, produced until 1965. A five-year period of great economic and political turmoil: the Olympics are held in Rome, Ferrero produced his first jar of Nutella, John F. Kennedy is elected US president.
In the 50s explodes Vespa mania. The Times called it "a completely Italian product as we have not seen since the Roman chariot." Used for the film "Roman Holiday", Vespa definitely going in the myth.
It was flatbed cockchafer on which was mounted a rear bench seat for the driver. That rudimental van, strucked the imagination of Mr. Ben. Thus was born, by a need for an ingenious workman the legendary Volkswagen T1, intended to enter into the myth.

Since the '50s, Ape Calessino rapresented Dolce vita style; the American stars on vacation in the beautiful country and the Mediterranean beaches used it. Paparazzi immortalized them on Calessino while moved in the holiday resort.
